Dog Walking in Gardiner

My dog LOVED Don! I asked Don to walk my dog twice per day for 8 days after injuring my foot and was unable to walk him myself. Tiko would always wait by the door at the designated times, and if he heard Don's car pull up and Don didn't come to the door immediately, he would cry. Tiko was always eager to go on these daily adventures. The problem is that Tiko is very reactive, particularly when it comes to other dogs and can be a little aggressive. Reactive dogs aren't easy and have to be handled thoughtfully. I liked that Don is learning about animal behavior and dog training, and he was willing take Tiko. It was helpful to have someone who is a bit more informed on difficult dogs than the average person. Don was caring, friendly, and very engaging with Tiko. One day, Don surprised us by bringing a buddy and his two dogs to meet Tiko at the park. It was a bit of a trigger overload for Tiko, but he was able to get Tiko to walk with one of the dogs. He also came up with a good idea for keeping Tiko from jumping on him when he arrived. On the whole, while Tiko was probably getting too close to other dogs for his comfort (and this is something that requires practice and knowing the individual dog very well), walking with Don was great for Tiko's socialization with people. My foot is mostly healed now and I will be continuing Tiko's conditioning with other dogs, but I will also be contacting Don if I ever need someone to walk Tiko, or maybe in a few months when Tiko is ready to be closer to other dogs and we can walk with Don and his dogs.
